Channel 4 Instant Re4ch: what it means for TV buyers

Channel 4 Sales has announced Instant Re4ch, a launch package that guarantees same-evening peak spots across Channel 4, 5, UKTV and more, backed by 48-hour boosts on streaming and YouTube, from January 2027. It is built for brands launching big, and for everyone else the useful question is what it does to the airtime left over.

What’s happened

Channel 4 Sales used its upfront event on 15 October to announce Instant Re4ch, a package for advertisers launching a campaign. From January 2027, a brand buying it gets prioritised planning and guaranteed peak spots on the same evening across the linear channels Channel 4 Sales will represent, named as Channel 4, 5, U&Drama, U&Dave and the GREAT! network, plus a 48-hour “boost” across the Channel 4, Paramount and UKTV streaming services and a second 48-hour boost across Channel 4’s more than 30 YouTube channels. According to Channel 4’s announcement, head of sales David Amodio says it is the first time in Europe that advertisers can reach two public service broadcasters through a single buying point. No price, minimum spend or trading terms have been published. The package builds on the deal, which we wrote about in September, under which Channel 4 Sales takes over the sale of Paramount’s UK channels, including 5, from 2027.

Why it matters to TV advertisers buying late space

Most of our clients will never buy Instant Re4ch. It is designed for a national brand with a launch date and a budget to match, and we would be surprised if the entry price suited an auction house or a claims firm. It still matters, because a guarantee has to come from somewhere. If Channel 4 Sales is promising launch advertisers peak spots on a named evening across several channels, some of the most wanted peak airtime between January and March 2027 will be committed before the month starts. For anyone who buys TV late, the shape of what is left changes: peak on heavy launch nights gets tighter, while the evenings either side, daytime and early peak, and the smaller channels in the portfolio become relatively more plentiful. That second group is where a regional auction house or a direct response campaign reaches its audience anyway, so this is not bad news, but the weeks to buy and the weeks to avoid will look different from this year.

The other thing to notice is the shape of the package itself. Linear, streaming and YouTube are sold as one coordinated burst, and the seller sets the price of the bundle. The same three ingredients can usually be bought separately, and when they are bought separately and late, the price is negotiated rather than set. That is where we spend our time: we are in conversation with the TV sales houses every week, so we know which weeks are heavy with commitments and where the gaps are, and we ask for the spots that are not in anyone’s guaranteed package.

For a combat sports promoter the idea is worth borrowing. Fight week is a launch, and a 48-hour push across streaming and YouTube in the final two days before a card is exactly what a promoter wants. Whether Channel 4 Sales will trade a fight-week version at a scale a promoter can afford is a question we would put to them directly, with the do-it-yourself version priced alongside.

What we’d do

Get the price before anyone gets excited. We will ask Channel 4 Sales what Instant Re4ch costs, what the minimum spend is and what the guarantee adds over the same spots bought on standard terms. If you are planning TV for the first quarter of 2027, we will put the answer in front of you as part of that conversation.

Plan the first quarter around the launch calendar. January is always busy with launches, and this package will concentrate more of them in peak. We will build station-level plans, not sales-house plans, and move late buying to the nights and dayparts where the pressure is lowest, which for most of our clients is where the audience already is.

Build your own 48-hour boost. For a sale preview or a fight week we can assemble Channel 4 streaming, YouTube and a handful of peak spots at late rates, timed to the two days that matter, without paying a package premium. We will tell you what it should cost before you commit a penny.
